The Rogers Network Outage and Impact on TitanFile Two-factor Authentication

Earlier this morning, Rogers, a Canadian communications company reported a service outage that is affecting its clients across Canada. Due to the outage, many Rogers customers are unable to make calls or send and receive text messages.

According to a Rogers outage reports website, reports of the outage began at approximately 12:00am EDT on April 19th and is still ongoing.

How the outage impacts TitanFile customers

If you are a Rogers wireless customer and have set up two-factor authentication via SMS or Voice on your subscription, you may be unable to log in until the Rogers outage is resolved. TitanFile’s two-factor authentication services rely on your carrier’s network to deliver a pin to you.

If you are not a Rogers wireless customer or have set up two-factor authentication using an authenticator app such as Duo or Google Authenticator, you are immune to the Rogers network outages.

How to set up TitanFile with an Authenticator App

If you are affected by the Rogers outage and need to log into your TitanFile account, you can switch to using an authenticator app to log in.

First, request assistance from your subscription administrator or TitanFile support to reset your two-factor authentication settings.

Then, log into your TitanFile account. You should see the two-factor authentication setup screen similar to the one below:

Choose Authenticator app or Duo.

Then, download an authenticator app or Duo on your phone. For authenticator apps, we recommend Google Authenticator or LastPass Authenticator.

Once you’ve set up the app on your phone, you will be required to scan a barcode in TitanFile.

Once you’re all set up, a PIN will be sent to your Authenticator app each time you log in. You can enter the PIN when the verification prompt comes up.
