User Authentication

What is User Authentication?

User Authentication is a process by which the identity of a user who is attempting to access a system or platform is verified before being granted entry. The most common types of authentication used today are:

  • Knowledge-based – Passwords, answers to security questions, or even your Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  • Possession-based – A credit card, smartphone or hardware token.
  • Inherence-based – Fingerprints, iris scans, or even your voice.

Why is User Authentication Important?

In today’s digital age, companies have a huge digital footprint of information being stored and shared online. Without user authentication, employees and other unauthorized parties could potentially access company information that they’re not authorized access to.

By enforcing stringent password policies and multi-factor authentication on regularly-accessed systems, companies can be more assured that information is only being accessed by verified individuals.

User Authentication in TitanFile

Additionally, TitanFile utilizes the most popular and secure forms of authentication to ensure that only your employees are able to access their own information including stringent password policies, two-factor authentication (2FA), authenticator apps, and Single Sign-On (SSO).

Password Policy

Administrators are able to configure custom password policies to enforce users to use complex passwords, routinely update their passwords, prevent re-using previous passwords, and avoid using personal details in their passwords.

Two-factor Authentication (2FA)

TitanFile uses two-factor authentication to add an additional layer of protection to user accounts. 2FA can be enabled for both users and their recipients. It can be used to protect your account from a compromised password or to verify the identity of your recipients.

Authenticator Apps

TitanFile supports authenticator apps such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Duo Security. These apps provide time-based codes that can be used to authenticate into the TitanFile platform.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

TitanFile allows single sign-on integration with ADFS, cloud providers such as Azure Active Directory and AWS Directory Service, and any third-party provider that supports SAML2 or OATH. Enterprise users can use their corporate credentials to authenticate into the platform.
