TitanFile Introduces Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK) to Give Clients Complete Control Over Their Data

TORONTO, ON – August 22nd, 2022 – TitanFile Inc., a leader in secure file sharing serving law firms, financial service providers, healthcare providers, and government organizations, today announced the availability of Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK) on its platform. This product update gives TitanFile’s customers the highest security, compliance, and regulatory requirements to protect their data, and they can now benefit from greater control over the encryption keys.

TitanFile automatically encrypts data at rest using encryption keys managed by TitanFile. This model provides a strong level of security and compliance. The new release takes those encryption capabilities to a new level. With customer-managed encryption keys, organizations benefit from:

  • Control Over Data Access: TitanFile would not be able to comply with requests to access customer data if the data is encrypted using CMEK and the customer disables access to the encryption keys.
  • Stop Data Breaches: If the customer experiences a breach, such as stolen credentials or social engineering, they may disable TitanFile’s access to the encryption keys to prevent any further access to their data until the credentials have been reset.
  • Control over Data Retention: Upon service termination, the customer can be certain that any data they uploaded in the cloud is no longer accessible by disabling the encryption keys.

Customers on the Enterprise Plan can take advantage of TitanFile’s Customer-Managed Encryption Keys by creating an encryption key in their own cloud infrastructure account on AWS and making it accessible by the TitanFile platform. TitanFile then uses this key to encrypt any files uploaded by the customer or their users to TitanFile. Since the encryption key is owned and managed by the customer, they can revoke access to the key at any time, or delete it, preventing TitanFile and anyone else from accessing the data.

“TitanFile strives to provide the highest level of security, compliance, and control to our customers. The launch of the Customer Managed Encryption Keys capability is a natural extension to our suite of security features and solidifies our position as the new standard in secure file sharing,” stated Tony Abou-Assaleh, President and CEO of TitanFile Inc.

TitanFile has been consistently rated as the most secure file-sharing platform among many publicly available security rating sites. Over the last 15 months, TitanFile has achieved 4 globally-recognized certifications which include SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and ISO 27018. These certifications are the gold standard in information security today and serve as attestations to the maturity of TitanFile’s information security management practices.
